Wordless Wednesday: Best Friends for Life

Wordless Wednesday is a new weekly tag created by Grace at Kimmie.gg. Each week there’s a new topic, unrelated to books, which will hopefully provide some insight into my life outside of reading.

Each week, I will post a topic for a Wordless Wednesday that you may answer in whatever fashion you may like. All you need to do is link back to Kimmie.gg in your post so that I can also read your content!

This week’s theme was Best Friends for Life, and it’s all about pets. Now I mentioned my dog, Tommy, late last week when I published my Real Neat Blog Award post but any excuse to talk about him a little more is something I’m going to jump on, and it’s also an excuse to share more pictures of him as well. There’s nothing better than coming home from work and having Tommy jump up to greet me, happy to see me again.

Tommy

Tommy is now six years old, his birthday is in November, and we’ve had him since December 2014 when he retired from racing.

Now he’s gotten used to being in a home instead of in the kennels he’s become a little spoilt, but then again we probably haven’t helped dissuade him of that. We’re always giving him loads of attention, food and toys, and we’ve let him take over one of our sofas as his bed.

He spends most his time lying around the house sleeping. The most active we see him is when someone is filling his food bowl or about to take him out for a walk, or when he’s stolen some food off the counters he knows he shouldn’t have.

So, what do you think; did you take part in this week’s Wordless Wednesday or will you be taking part in next week’s? Also do you have any pets; tell me all about them if you do, but if you don’t what pet would you like to have? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Tommy is the cutest! πŸ˜€ I’ve had Yuki for 5 years now, she’s my baby and I can’t remember how life was before she came into my life. Last December, we adopted an adorable (and crazy) female named Iris. She’s deaf so it was a challenge to find the right way to communicate, but she’s a lovely dog and she has really gotten used to us and the house. Now she sees us as family!

    1. Thanks so much Donna!
Ahh both your pets sound amazing, you should definitely share some pictures of them! And I know the feeling because sometimes it’s so weird having a dog around the house again (before we got Tommy it’s been seventeen years since we had a pet) but at the same time I can’t imagine life without him! ❀️

      1. No. We have some fish in a pond in the garden, and have had them since before we got Tommy, and it definitely wasn’t the same.
Ahh that’s adorable, she must have been really cuddly. I won’t let Tommy on my bed, unfortunately if I did there’d be no room for me on there!

    1. Ahh thanks Lauren, and that’s definitely a good thing because I doubt I’ll ever get tired of posting pictures of him! ❀️
I’ll be sure to give him a hug from you, and yeah we do have a few photos of him where it looks like he’s grinning! I like to think he’s pretty happy. πŸ˜€

    1. That’s all right! I love sharing pictures of him. πŸ˜€
He does have his moment where he looks really elegant and kind of regal as well, but more moment where he’s a complete dork! πŸ™‚
Not too long, normally twice a day for at least half an hour. But sometimes on weekends we do take him out for a little longer. πŸ™‚

      1. Twice a day! I’ve always wanted a dog but I feel like it’ll take much more time, effort and commitment than I am able/willing to give at this point in my life. Like I can’t imagine having the time to care for it as it should be cared for… though I suppose it’s also a matter of priorities. But with the amount of traveling and being out of the country that I do, it’s hard. So for now I just live vicariously through others. πŸ˜›

      2. Yeah it’s a lot of work looking after a dog. It’s not just the walks but all the attention as well. He doesn’t like being left on his own and when you’re in the same room as him if you’re not paying attention to him then he just isn’t happy!
I think if it was just me I wouldn’t have the time to take care of Tommy properly but between me, my parents and my sister we do all right πŸ™‚

      3. Yeah, for sure. My boss is dog-sitting for her cousin at the moment and sometimes she brings the dog to work, and OH MY GOD. She’s SO well-behaved but she does require attention and she follows you EVERYWHERE. It’s super cute (and actually makes me really want a dog), but I can see why it can be a bit of work occasionally.

That’s good to know! I’m planning to get a dog in the far, FAR future (like 20 years HAHA) so for now I’m living vicariously through you all dog owners. ❀

      4. Oh I would LOVE to be able to take Tommy to work with me. I’m not sure how well behaved he would be, and he wouldn’t want anyone to pay attention to anything but him, but it would be so much fun to have him there for the day! πŸ˜€
If you ever have a chance to get a dog then definitely get a dog, until then I’ll always have pictures of Tommy to share if you ever need some! He’ll likely be making some appearances on my Instagram at some point!

      5. IT’S SO MUCH FUN. My coworkers and I really loved Tali (that’s the dog’s name) and I bet your coworkers will love Tommy too. It’s amazing what pets can do just by existing and being in your vicinity. πŸ˜‚

Oh yay! Can’t wait to see more.

    1. He’s so adorable isn’t he? 😍
Ahh I love spoiling dogs, they always love the attention. Tommy doesn’t sleep on my bed, there wouldn’t be any room for me if he did, but he’s taken over one of our sofas so that’s something! πŸ˜€
Yeah we have a few pictures where he looks like he’s smiling, mainly of him in the garden or on holiday where he’s really happy! πŸ™‚
