Goodreads

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

Ever since I read the Starbound series that she wrote with Amie Kaufman I’ve wanted to read more of Meagan Spooner’s work, and I’m getting the perfect opportunity with Hunted. I’m a huge fan of fairy tale retellings and a huge fan of Meagan Spooner’s writing so a combination the two is bound to be a huge win for me.

So what does everyone think; is Hunted a must on anyone else’s to-read list or are there any other books that you can’t wait for to be released?

  1. I was one of the rare readers that didn’t like Lunar Chronicles, but other than that I haven’t done much reading of reimagined fairy tales. This one sounds very interesting though.

    1. I can’t wait for it’s release date, it sounds amazing doesn’t it. Oh I’m the same with an fairytale retellings, I just can’t enough, and I really loved the Starbound series which Meagan Spooner wrote with Amie Kaufman. If you’re into sci-fi books I’d recommend picking that series up! 😀

      1. If you’re talking about the series I think you’re talking about then it’s been on my TBR even longer than this. The one where each book is different characters? Set in space? I’ve gone to pick it up so many times but still haven’t 🙈. One of these days I’ll need to get around to it! *desperately needs more time to read* 😂

    1. It’s a book I’ve had on my to-read list since I discovered it was being released a while ago now. I was just waiting for the cover reveal. And yeah it’s a gorgeous cover as well isn’t it?! (Green isn’t my favourite colour but it works really well with this book!)

  2. Whoa, this sounds really good! The only B&tB retelling I’ve liked is ACOTAR, which I enjoyed but didn’t think it captured the essence of the story. I also read Cruel Beauty, but I wasn’t a huge fan of that one. Haven’t read the Starbound trilogy, but I’ve heard wonderful things!

    1. Yeah I’ve been excited for this book for a while, I was just waiting for the cover to be released so I could feature it as one of my WoW posts! 🙂
I get what you mean about ACOTAR, hopefully Hunted will be a little better at capturing the essence of the original tale. I actually enjoyed Cruel Beauty but I guess it wasn’t for everyone! 🙂
Also the Starbound series is really good, I’d definitely recommend picking it up if it sounds like something that would interest you! 🙂

      1. My main problem with CB was the world-building. And I was also in a slump, which is probably why it didn’t draw me in. Some of my most trusted bloggers/reviewers have loved it, so I’m sure it was me. XD

      2. I read CB a while back now so I can’t remember much about the world-building, but I do remember rating it highly so I probably didn’t notice anything too major with it. Still yeah I’ve read books loads of people have loved but because I’ve been in a slump at the time I haven’t enjoyed them at all. It happens. 🙂
