Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I’d Buy Right This Second if Someone Handed Me a Fully Loaded Gift Card.

Honestly this week’s list is pretty much just my list of books on my to-buy list and all of these I will be buying soon whether I have a gift card or not. However after July and August and YALC I’ve had to put myself on a book buying ban so it will be a while before most of these are in my basket on Amazon ready to be ordered.

Top Ten Tuesday #32

The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness

This is next on my to-buy list. I haven’t read many of Ness’s books, so far only The Rest Of Us Just Live Here and More Than This, but I have heard amazing things about his work especially the Chaos Walking trilogy. I really want to buy this series and get started on them to see what all the fuss is about.

The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

I have already read The Sin Eater’s Daughter. I got a copy from the library when it was first released. I did really enjoy it but then it seemed to fall to the back of my mind and I have yet to buy for myself the first book in the series or the second, which I still need to read as well. Plus the covers are gorgeous.

Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Series by Ransom Riggs

This is another series, like the Chaos Walking trilogy, which is next on my to-buy list. I’ve heard great things about these books and I really need to read the first before the movie comes out. The trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children looks amazing, but before I go and see the film I need to have read the book, and possibly the whole series, first.

Wink. Poppy. Midnight by April Tucholke Genevieve

I will admit that my sole reason for adding this book to my to-buy list is largely due to the gorgeous cover. It has some mixed reviews but the blurb sounds interesting so I’m willing to give it a go.

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

I have brought every other book that V.E. Schwab has written, and while I do have both The Archived and The Unbound on my Kindle I don’t own them in paperback. It’s strange because I really enjoyed both books, though I read them a while back and can’t remember some of the finer details, so I’m surprised I don’t already have them in paperback.

Snow Like Ashes Series by Sara Raasch

So far I’ve only read Snow Like Ashes, although the second two books are on my to-read list I haven’t gotten around to them yet and not just because the third one has yet to be released. Still I really enjoyed the first books so I have high hopes for the rest of the series.

After Alice by Gregory Maguire

I haven’t read anything by Gregory Maguire before, although I know he wrote Wicked and I did see that at the West End when I was in New York with my sister. Still it’s an Alice in Wonderland inspired book and that alone is enough to convince me I need to buy it as soon as possible.

Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

Ink and Bone is such a brilliant book, I brought it first for my Kindle and because I enjoyed it so much added it to my list of paperbacks I need to buy. Although the second book has been released I haven’t got around to reading it yet but honestly I think it will be just as good, if not better, than the first in the series.

The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan

I feel like this should actually be all of Rick Riordan’s book I have yet to buy, which isn’t just The Trials of Apollo but the Magnus Chase series and the Kane Chronicles as well. Granted I still need to read the Heroes of Olympus books but I know I’m going to love them the same as I did the Percy Jackson series and everything by Rick Riordan I have yet to buy and read.

Legend Series by Marie Lu

I started this series last year and got through all of Legend and half of the second book, Prodigy, before giving up. Not because the books were boring or something I didn’t enjoyed reading but because I was in the middle of a reading slump. I really enjoyed what I’ve already read of this series so I’m hoping when I go back and read it all the way through I’ll love the rest.

  2. Love that The Hidden Oracle is on here!! I’ve read the first two books in Miss Peregrine’s and really enjoyed them. I also really want The Archived and Wink Poppy Midnight.

    I just added After Alice to my TBR! The cover is beautiful and it sounds really interesting.

    1. All of Rick Riordan’s books are on my must-buy list, I just need to get the money for them! I can’t wait to get started on the Miss Peregrine’s series, and yeah I really want to read Wink Poppy Midnight as well! 😀
      I recently added it to my to-read list as well because of that cover, and the fact that it’s an Alice in Wonderland retelling! 🙂

    1. Yeah it’s literally all I’ve heard about the Chaos Walking series as well. I just hope it lives up to the hype!
      Yeah hopefully we can, but I think as long as I get to Miss Peregrine’s before I see the movie then I’ll be happy! 🙂

  4. I really want to read The Sin Eaters Daughter!! I really enjoyed Wink Poppy Midnight and I have the second book in the Snow Like Ashes Series on my kindle – I really need to read it! I also read the Legend series a while back and it was ok … But it didn’t wow me. I don’t think Marie’s writing is my kind of thing

    1. Well I’ve only read the first book but I can confirm that it was really good, and I’ve heard good things about the second as well!
      I hope I enjoy Wink Poppy Midnight as well then,
      I’ve seen some mixed reviews so I’m a little nervous about it, and yeah I have the second Snow Like Ashes book on my Kindle as well, just need to actually get around to it now!
      I need to give the Legend series another go but I hope I enjoy it just as much the second time around. You can never tell with re-reads though can you? 🙂

      1. Well, hopefully I’ll get a copy soon! I think WPM is one of those books that you either really enjoy it or you just don’t – I was one of those who really enjoyed it 🙂 I may have to re read snow like ashes before reading ice like fire because it was so long ago! I hope you enjoy it!

      2. Hopefully I’ll really enjoy it in that case as well, I guess I won’t know until I start it though which will probably be a little while, I still have loads on my to-read list!
        Oh I’m definitely going to need to re-read the first book, I can’t remember anything that happened! 🙂

    1. I loved Legend too, I’m excited to carry on with the rest of the series actually. And I do keep hearing that about the Chaos Walking books, honestly after this TTT post I did I’m just so much more excited to read them than I was before 🙂

  9. I hear Chaos Walking is Ness’s best work so far, so I’m keen to start reading that too… it’s just a matter of time. Oh god, so many books.

    Also keen to get into The Archived sometime this year! Schwab hasn’t disappointed so far, and the physical copy is pretty. ❤

    And I STILL haven't read anything by Marie Lu yet. I borrowed Legend but had to return it before I could read it… and now I'm just drowning in other books. Glad to hear that you've enjoyed what you've read, though! Hopefully the second time around it's just as good.

    1. I’ve heard that as well and, after reading and really loving The Rest of Us Just Live Here and More Than This, I’m not sure how he can get any better! But I want to find out!
      Yeah my to-read and to-buy lists are not getting any shorter no matter how many books I read and buy.
      I hope you really enjoy The Archived but honesty if you’ve loved Schwab’s work to date I’m sure you will 🙂 I’m not even sure where I’d find a copy of The Archived and The Unbound because I haven’t seen them anywhere, but they’ve got to be available to buy somewhere right? 😀

    1. I’ll wish you luck on that mission then. I haven’t seen them in paperback let alone hardcover, but I’m sure they’re out there somewhere! 🙂 I’ll admit having a complete set of Schwab books is something that definitely appeals to me as well!
      If only we could get a freebie gift card in real life, that would definitely help with affordable costs!

  13. That After Alice book has some low reviews, it looks like…
    But The Sin Eater’s Daughter was Excellent: I’m still waiting on The Sleeping Prince to come into the library: a nearby library has it but won’t loan it out because it’s too new, but I have a hold on the first available copy!

    1. I haven’t seen any reviews for it, but it’s an Alice in Wonderland retelling so even if it’s terrible I will have to read it just for that reason!
      Yeah I loved the first one as well, just haven’t had the time to get around to the second but hopefully if I buy it soon then at least I’ll have it on my shelves to get around to soon you know?
      That’s weird they won’t lend it, isn’t that the point of libraries, to lend books? But I hope you get a copy soon in any case! 😀

        Yeah, I would get it if my library had it (they are still waiting on the order to come in), but it’s a different library that has it right now. It even says its on shelf! It’s so stupid.

      2. That is really stupid, I can’t get over the fact that a library is refusing to lend a book because it’s new. Kind of defeats the purpose of it being in a library right?! Still hopefully soon they’ll let you borrow of, that or your library will finally get a copy in!

      3. I know. I agreed it’s stupid, too. The only option they suggest is to go to that library and check it out, which is like, 40 miles away…and then I’d have to return it to that library! Ugh. I’m getting desperate though and may end up doing it, but then again it might be cheaper in gas to buy the damn book! Ebook version, of course!

      4. Jesus that’s certainly an extreme length to go to to get this book, then again I’d do the same if it was a book I really wanted to get my hands on!
        Though yeah, when you take gas into account it’ll be cheaper to buy a copy yourself, then you don’t have to worry about returning it either! 😀

      5. Yeah: that’s what I’m thinking. I’m just going to keep myself busy…or use my precious Amazon gift card I’ve been saving if it takes too much longer. That’s what they’re for, right? Lol

  14. I have a few of these on my Kindle to read. Wink Poppy Midnight was good but nothing that blew me away. It’s one of those stories where you think you know what’s going to happen and it’s the opposite. Good list you have here. 🙂

    1. I’m hoping to get around to some of them soon. Yeah honestly the main draw for me with Wink Poppy Midnight is the fact that the cover is so gorgeous. I hope when I do get around to it I’ll enjoy it just because there have been some negative reviews of if I’ve seen!

      1. It’s a great cover. That was part of the appeal and also because I’ve read the author’s other two books and liked them. It’s a hit or miss kind of book. I initially read about 25% and set it aside, then came back to it and read it in one night. I liked the character development by the end, but it’s a strange story. I hope you like it!

      2. For me most of the books on my to-read list end up there because of the cover! I haven’t read anything else by this author but I’m a little nervous about Wink Poppy Midnight just because of the mixed reviews I’ve seen so far you know! I hope I do like it as well, I normally don’t mind strange stories as long as they’ve been written well so hopefully this will be one of those! 😀

      3. Ha! That’s so true for me. I’m dazzled by a beautiful cover. If you’re thinking about reading this author, you might want to try her first book that’s supernatural in nature. That would appeal more to you as a fantasy fan and might help you get used to her writing style cause it’s weird. I loved Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and it’s follow-up novel. I still have to review them. You might like them. Her books always have a romantic element so not sure if you’re into that.

        I actually have her supernatural series on my to-read list! Although for some reason I didn’t really connect her Wink Poppy Midnight book with her Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea series! Either way I’ll definitely check it out first then, and thanks for the recommendations as well! 😀

    1. Oh in that case I would definitely recommend picking up The Unbound as soon as you get a chance. It’s an amazing book but I honestly didn’t expect anything else from Schwab!
      I keep hearing more and more praise for the Chaos Walking books, it’s making me excited to read them, but do you think you’ll ever get around to the other two in the series yourself? 🙂
