The Blog Most Likely To…

The Blog Most Likely To… challenge is one that was inspired by Huntley Fitzpatrick’s book, The Boy Most Likely To. In the run up to its release bloggers were asked to choose their own superlative for their blog using the tag “The Blog Most Likely To…”. Even though the book is well past its release day this challenge is still floating around out there and I was tagged by Analee at Book Snacks, so thank you Analee for this tag.

The Blog Most Likely To...

When I read The Boy Most Likely To at the beginning of this year I loved it, even more than the previous companion novel My Life Next Door. Tim’s journey throughout was so wonderfully written, so moving, and it made the whole book felt real and incredibly well developed. Of course I jumped at the chance to take part in this challenge; despite the facts that The Boy Most Likely To has been released for a while now and that it’s taken me a long time to get around to this tag.

The Boy Most Likely To

He’s a kid. Not a man, not on some deadline. But with his jaw set and raised—I know that face. The I’m going to push on through, no problem, I’ll deal. Moving right along. Nothing to see here face. Know it as well as my own. It is my own. And I picture the rest of the lines on that paper.

Tim Mason: The Boy Most Likely To…
Forget his own name even before we do
Turn down the hottest girl in the world for the coldest beer
Be six feet under by our fifth reunion

Don’t go that way, Tim. Such a stupid, stupid waste.

Reading Every Night is the Blog Most Likely To…Put Things Off.

It’s got to be a well known fact by now, given how often I’ve mentioned it, that I can be a massive procrastinator. Ever since I was in high school there has always been something I’ve put off; be it leaving my coursework until the last minute, or only properly revising for exams the night before. When I was in university it got worse, not because my procrastination got worse but because the projects I was leaving until the last minute couldn’t be done at the last minute. I did a lot of rushing around and all-nighters to get everything handed in on time.

Now that I’m working full time it’s not so bad. However before I started this blog I did have three others, and they all fizzled out because it got to the point – three months, four months, five months in – when I would just wouldn’t be in the mood to write and edit a post. I’d put it off and say to myself, ‘I’ll get something written and posted tomorrow’, and I’d keep saying that to myself until before I knew it three months, four months, five months had passed, I still hadn’t posted anything, and my blog had just fizzled out.

Luckily that hasn’t been the case with Reading Every Night – you know what they say; third fourth time’s the charm – and I am trying very hard to keep it that way. However there are still times when I haven’t posted anything, or been late replying to comments, because I’ve put it off until the next day. Times when my monthly recaps have been a few days late because I haven’t wanted to get started on them, and times when I’ve said so and so book is next on my to-read list only to pass it by because I am a mood reader and I just didn’t feel like reading it.

I’m supposed to offer examples for this but honestly I can’t really find any examples of my putting things off unless you count;

  • The fact that I have said to various people I will be creating a Goodreads account any day now and I still haven’t and…
  • …that my March and April recap posts ended up being posted a good few days after the end of the month.

  1. I totally feel you on the procrastination! I never would have guess you also struggled with it if you didn’t say because your blog always seems to put together. You’re AMAZING with comments too! You always make the effort to reply to every single one and it’s so great. I constantly put things off by saying “oh, I’ll do it tomorrow” and then it just never happens and it’s like the day before said thing needs to be done and I start having major anxiety. It’s such a bad habit but I’ve been like that since school and I can’t break it.

Thanks for the tag!! There’s quite a few things I think I would be most likely to do, so I’ll have to try and narrow it down 😂

Also, you should definitely make a Goodreads account!! But no pressure haha ♥

    1. It seems to be a common complaint of bloggers doesn’t it? I kind of feel lucky though because my blog seems to be the exception that proves the rule. I will put off everything I can except anything with my blog. If anything I do things earlier than I need to!
Thanks you so much, I do try and comment on everything, I just love talking to other people about books. It’s the whole reason I started this blog so I just make the most of it.
I put things off a lot, I think it’s more due to the fact that I can be really lazy at times rather than a side affect of my anxiety though. I guess all we can hope to do is manage it if we’ll never be able to break it!
I’m hoping to have one up before the end of this month, seriously this time, but I’ll post it on my blog when it is ready to go! 🙂

  2. This is such a fun tag, and I loved reading it 🙂 I’m sometimes a big procrastinator for some stuff – I put off doing things I am scared of doing, but I always tried to be organized in my school work – and I just HATE it to be honest. I’m one of these people being MAD when I4m actually not doing anything productive, even if sometimes I do enjoy staying in front of the tv watching a show I’ve seen a thousand times before, haha.

    1. Thanks Marie! It definitely was fun, but it took me a while to come up with something I felt for my blog. Somehow, and quite luckily, even though I am a massive procrastinator my blog seems to be the exception that proves the rule. I’ll put things off a day at most but I’ll still always post something when I plan to.
Oh I could never be organised in my school work, I do envy you that!
Nah neither am I actually, I always get things done in time and while at school my grades never suffered for it so that’s something! 🙂

      1. I’m crazy about planning my blog! 😀 I’m either very on top with planning stuff, blogs and holidays, or very very lax. There’s no in between. I think it’s just easier to not procrastinate when it’s something I really enjoy! 🙂

  3. Thanks for tagging me!! I used to be a major procrastinator and in some ways I still am. Sometimes it can take me a few days to write a review after finishing he book purely because I just leave it. Sometimes I actually finish another book before writing the review for the first one

    1. That’s all right, I hope you have fun with this one!
Part of me is still a major procrastinator but somehow with this blog I manage to skip it a little. Same here, I never normally write reviews immediately after finishing a book but I do always post on my blog when I plan to so that’s something! 🙂

  4. I totally want to do this…but what does the superlative mean? I know the meaning of the word, but in this instance is it the blogs that you think your blog is similar to? Or the blogs you think are better? I’m just trying to understand….I’m new to this whole thing.
There was also a tag post that was done (I don’t know if it was here or another blog) where you would write the way you felt about books from the POV of the movie “Inside Out” (i.e. This book made me angry, this book made me sad, etc). I thought that was a cool idea, too. But I need help on this one.
    Thanks!! 🙂

    1. I think in the case of this tag it’s more like how you would describe your blog, like mine is the most likely to put things off, I saw others that were most likely to procrastinate, most likely to ramble on. It’s things like that! Just pick something you think describes your blog or your blogging habits and kind of explain why. It took me a while to get the hang of this one as well but you can check out Analee’s post which I linked in the beginning of mine.
I did post the Inside Out tag on my blog last week so it could have been mine. I admit this one is a little more complicated but if it still doesn’t make sense let me know and I can try and explain it in more depth. 🙂

  5. Oooh I love this concept so much ! I can’t for the life of me procrastinate big things, or things that have a due date haha, I get too stresse out that way , I prefer to do it early on and be done with it, probably do some touch up afterwards.
But I don’t know what my blog is most likely to do/be ! I’ll think of it and post this haha, any suggestions ? This is really fun 😀

    1. It’s a great idea for a tag isn’t it? See I’m the opposite, he bigger a project is the more likely I am to leave it until the last minute. It’s a horrible habit but one I am trying to break because it stresses me out as well! 🙂
It took me a while to think of one as well, I wanted to come up with something that really fit it, but either way take your time 😀

      1. I do get really stressed, and possibly part of it is because of my procrastination. I always said I’d change things next time; start earlier, work harder; but it was always the same and the deadlines would just creep up on me! I’m trying to manage it now, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to change it completely! 🙂

  6. This is a fun tag. I think everyone knows my blog would be the most likely to Rant. Haha! I also have a habit of putting things off, too. I’ve been staring at my copy edits for my book for a month now and just haven’t felt like doing them. 😂

    1. Thanks Jill, it was a great one although it took me a while to come up with something that I felt for my blog. I think ranting would definitely be yours, but I love your rant posts!
Oh I feel like that a lot, sometimes you just want to be lazy and take a break from everything right? 🙂

      1. I love reading your rants, I don’t think you go on a bit at all, Jen again I suppose it’s easy to rant about a book you didn’t enjoy!
See on the contrary I’ve had a really really busy Saturday, and next weekend will be the same as well! 🙂

      2. Thank you! I’m so glad my rants are well received. I remember the first one I wrote I thought everyone would unfollow me but quite the opposite. I was really surprised. My weekends tend to be very laid back. I can’t remember the last time I made plans that kept me busy all weekend.

      3. Definitely well received. I sometimes prefer reading rant posts to postive five star reviews, and not just from you but from anyone. Normally my weekends are laid back as well, it just seems like everything has happened all at once and the next two/three weekends are jam packed!

      4. Oh yes, it has to have been backed up if that makes sense. I don’t enjoy reading posts which bash the book or author with no real reason, it just seems too close to bullying.
I will be looking forwards to that lazy Sunday I can tell you that! 😀
