Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which shines a light on eagerly anticipated upcoming releases.
This week my pick is;
Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi
Publisher: Dutton Books for Young Readers
Release Date: 30th August 2016
There are only three things that matter to twelve-year-old Alice Alexis Queensmeadow: Mother, who wouldn’t miss her; magic and colour, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. The day Father disappears from Ferenwood he takes nothing but a ruler with him. But it’s been almost three years since then, and Alice is determined to find him. She loves her father even more than she loves adventure, and she’s about to embark on one to find the other.
But bringing Father home is no small matter. In order to find him she’ll have to travel through the mythical, dangerous land of Furthermore, where down can be up, paper is alive, and left can be both right and very, very wrong. Her only companion is a boy named Oliver whose own magical ability is based in lies and deceit—and with a liar by her side in land where nothing is as it seems, it will take all of Alice’s wits (and every limb she’s got) to find Father and return home to Ferenwood in one piece. On her quest to find Father Alice must first find herself—and hold fast to the magic of love in the face of loss.
I really loved her Shatter Me series so I was thrilled to see Tahereh Mafi has a new book coming out. Furthermore sounds like a really interesting story and I love the cover for it too. Plus with each book Mafi released, each new addition to the Shatter Me series, her writing seemed to get better and better so I wonder if Furthermore will continue that trend.
So what does everyone think; is Futhermore a must on anyone else’s to-read list or are there any other books that you can’t wait for to be released?
As soon as I saw this cover, I wanted to read the book and I didn’t even know what it was about at the time. But I’m glad to hear you enjoyed her other work!

Well it’s a brilliant cover isn’t it, definitely eye catching! Mafi’s other work is really good, so I’d recommend her Shatter Me series if you ever get a chance, but I’m really excited to see where she goes with Furthermore!

What a beautiful cover! I also love it when the sidekick holds a power that most wouldn’t call a power. Lies and deceit, what an interesting character.

The cover is definitely what drew me to this book in the first place. Oh and I know what you mean, the power of lies and deceit sounds interesting also I love the fact that the sidekick has it rather than the heroine! 🙂

The cover, the story, the fact that Tahereh Mafi wrote it….I’m totally looking forward to this book. Wonderful choice for this week.

That’s pretty much the same thought process I had when I saw this book. Amazing cover, interesting story, and written by Tahereh Mafi on top of all that means I can’t wait for it to be released now! 😀
Thanks! ❤️

The cover is sooo stunning! ❤ I'm really in love with it!
I do want to read this book, as the story sounds interesting and I do enjoy Tahereh Mafi's writing style. Though I won't be picking it up immediately, as I want to finish her Shatter Me trilogy first (I have only read the first book and the first novella so far.)

Oh yes, the cover was one of the first things which drew me to this book, the second being that Tahereh Mafi wrote it! 😀
Ohh, how are you enjoying her Shatter Me series so far! I really enjoyed it, I wasn’t too keen on the first book but I thought the second and third were so much better!

The first book was all right, I had some problems with it. Though the writing style was amazing and I have heard that the books only get better. Which I’m very much looking forward to! 🙂 Plus I absolutely love Warner, so even if I didn’t like any of the other characters I would continue reading the series just because of him. (I also absolutely hate Adam!)

It definitely gets better. I had some issues with the first book as well; I wasn’t a massive fan of Juliette’s character and I did not like Warner at all, but it gets so so much better! I started liking Warner after reading his novella and I loved him by the time I finished the series.
Yeah I was not a fan of Adam at all, not even in the first book, his relationship with Juliette just felt too insta-love! 🙂

I’m super glad to hear that! It makes me even more exited to pick up the next book in the series! 🙂

This is such an amazing pick! I love Tahereh Mafi, and I’m definitely excited for that one as well, even though I don’t really read MG books, I will HAVE to get this one 🙂

Thanks Marie! Yeah I’m the same, I don’t normally read MG books (well the Percy Jackson series I’m currently reading is another exception) but I will be picking this one up just because it’s by Tahereh Mafi! Plus is sounds amazing as well! 😀

That is literally two of the reasons I picked up this book 🙂 because Mafi is the author and because of that cover! 😀

I’m really excited for this too! I completely agree about her writing, it got better and better. Her writing in that series is definitely a big reason why I’m looking forward to Furthermore. That and the synopsis sounds really interesting.

It does sound like a really interesting book doesn’t it? And yeah her writing improved so much over the course of the Shatter Me series that I can’t wait to see where it goes with Furthermore. I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing book! 😀
