Myself in Five Characters Book Tag

So before starting this tag I wasn’t sure I could think of one character, let alone five, I shared traits with. However as I looked through the books on my bookshelves and on my Kindle I realised there were more than I thought. Picking one or two traits from each character I could find, before I knew it I had way more than five to choose from and my only issue was narrowing it down.

Like Cath I am obviously a massive fan girl, maybe not for Simon Snow specifically but plenty of other fandom’s out there. Also like Cath I was a complete fish out of water when I started university; where Cath would prefer the company of her sister I preferred the company of my old friend who came to university with me rather than making new ones. I was unsocial and preferred to stay home and read rather than go out and enjoy the night/university life.

Like Nix I want to travel all around the world. Nix is desperate to learn how to Navigate so she can set off on her own and see the world from the helm of her ship. Unfortunately I don’t have a ship which can take me through all the different eras of history, but one day I’d love to have the funds and the freedom to travel all over the world and see places I’ve only ever read about.

Etta is really passionate about the violin and her future playing. When I was in high school and sixth form I played both the guitar and the clarinet, and although I haven’t picked up either in a while music in general is still a massive part of my life. I am constantly listening to my iPod or downloading new songs, and honestly I’d rather leave my Kindle or book at home than my iPod.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Grey

While I’m not as talented at drawing as Marguerite obviously is I do enjoy it, and I consider myself a creative person. Also Marguerite is willing to go to the ends of the earth, and all through the multiverses, to save her family and those she loves. I’d like to think if I was ever in the same situation she was I would do the same; I love my family and my friends and if any of them were ever in trouble I would do anything I could to help them.

Cress spends a lot of time daydreaming and creating worlds inside her head to escape the satellite she lives in. I do the same. Time and time again people have asked if I’m all right because I’ve just been staring off into the distance for a while not saying or doing anything, instead I’m creating whole worlds inside my head and daydreaming the minutes away.

      Yeah I feel like Cath is the kind of character everyone can relate to at least a little bit, she’s like all of us in a book. The ‘staring off into the distance’ thing can be awkward at times can’t it? XD

      1. Haha yes so awkward! I constantly have people asking me if I’m okay! And it’s even worse when you’re staring into the distance and end up accidentally staring at a person hahaa.

  5. What a neat tag! I don’t know that I’ve seen this one before. It seems like it might be a bit of a challenge, but I like how you explained your reasons for picking each of these characters (I’ve actually not read any of these books, though I did start The Girl From Everywhere).

    1. It was a lot of fun! 😀 Actually it was easier than I thought it would be, once I started looking through the books on my read list and on my bookshelves I came up with a lot of characters I could pick traits from.
      The Girl From Everywhere is a really good book in my opinion, I hope you really love it when you get around to finishing it! 😀

I have this tag to do for like, a while as well, and I can’t think of anyone, but reading your post actually gave me some ideas 🙂 I feel like Cress is such a good character, I can’t wait to read about her. I still can’t believe I haven’t read Fangirl yet, I need to, I feel like I could relate to her,a lot, ahah 🙂

    1. I kinda had that problem when I started this tag as well, but looking through my read list there was more than a few characters I could relate to. I recon you’ll have the same thing and, hey, it’s good my post gave you a little inspiration as well!
      Cress is an amazing character, she’s definitely one of my favourites from The Lunar Chronicles so I’m sure you’ll love her as well 😀 Also I’d highly recommend Fangirl, it’s an amazing book, I feel like all bookworms can relate to Cath at least a little! 🙂

      2. Well yay for some inspiration now! I can’t wait to see which five characters you pick as well, and the reasons behind each pick 😀
        I was pretty late in starting Fangirl myself. I only read it late last year and my friend had been bugging me for a while before that to get started on it. I think you’ll really enjoy it though, Rainbow Rowell is an amazing author! 🙂

    1. Oh they are all brilliant books; The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favourite series and Cress is definitely one of my favourite characters as well. It’s the same with Cath actually, Fangirl is such a brilliant book so I’m sure you’ll love both of them. 😀

Cress is one of my favorite characters in the Lunar Chronicles, so I think it’s awesome you connect with her like that 🙂 plus Marguerite and Cath are two of the most imaginative and well-developed characters I’ve read, and I can see how you share that creative spark with them.     1. Cress was one of the first ones I thought of for this tag actually, and yes I loved her in The Lunar Chronicles. The same with Cath and Maguerite as well, I love the creative side to both of them because yeah it’s something I can see in myself a little as well 😀

  9. I’ve only read Fangirl but I feel like many people can relate to Cath! I was also kind of a fish out of water when starting university, but I got lucky because many of my friends from high school also went to the same one, despite it being overseas. A lot of them has gone back home though so I’m kind of forced to look for a brand-new social life right now. 😛

    And yay for playing music, drawing, and imagining worlds and daydreaming the minutes away – I’m definitely guilty of doing those things too. ❤

    1. Loads of people probably feel that way just because going to university is a huge change on it’s own and yeah I was the same. One of my high school friends was on the same course as me so I didn’t really need to find new friends during uni. Even now my closest friends are people I met in high school, I haven’t heard from my uni classmates since graduation.
      I feel like imagining worlds and daydreaming is a common habit for a bookworm isn’t it 😀 I need to get back into drawing and music a little bit though!

      1. I get you! I made maybe like 6 long-term friends from uni, which is ridiculous given how many new people I met, haha. The rest are acquaintances that I haven’t seen after graduation, or became like Facebook friends I never speak to.

        I know! Sometimes I feel like I’m neglecting my other hobbies, haha. But I’m currently marathoning Friends again so there’s that. 😛

      2. There were only actually 9 people on my whole course. We were a small group 🙂 so I guess the fact that I’m closer to my high school friends makes a little more sense now! Six is still pretty good, quality over quantity right? 😀
        I know what you mean, I need to try and get some time management skills so I can fit my other hobbies around blogging, work and sleep! Ahh, Friends is always amazing, I’ve been watching some old episodes of an evening recently! 🙂

      3. 9 people! What course did you do, if I may ask? That sounds like quite a small class, haha. My classes usually have 15-20 people, and the lectures anywhere between 30-400. But I did go to quite a big school. 😛

      4. I studied Fashion Media and Promotion but it was a small university so there weren’t many people in general, not just on my course. I kind of liked that it was so small, we never had more than 30/50 people in our lectures so we got a lot of one on one time with the professors which really helped when it came to deadlines!
        God I can’t imagine 400 people attending one lecture! That seems insane to me!

      5. Yeah, I imagine it’d actually be better – less students means that the teaching staff is more focused on the ones that are there.

        Haha, it’s really kind of like being at the cinema! Except you’re not watching a movie, of course. 😛

      6. It did feel like that. One of the people on my course actually transferred in our second year. She said it was because at her old uni there were so many students on one course she’s never got any time to speak to her teachers!
        Still even then I can’t imagine it, but the most people I think I’ve ever seen at a cinema is maybe 50/70 odd 😀 nowhere near 400!
