This is a scheduled post as I am currently in Venice for the weekend. I’m not sure if I’ll have a decent internet connection so I’ll reply to any comments when I’m home again on Tuesday. Happy reading everyone!

I seem to have come up with some more interesting facts about myself (honestly I was sure I was all out) and decided, rather than posting a tag I haven’t actually been tagged in, I’d get started in the ones in my queue.

Seven Facts About Me:

  1. It is official I am now attending YALC 2016. I brought my ticket for the whole event on Thursday and now it’s official I am even more excited. Bring on July! I didn’t even know there was an event like this in the UK until a couple of weeks ago. Although this is my first YA book convention it is my fourth overall. I’ve been to three Supernatural conventions; two in Birmingham and another in Rome.
  2. It is my aim, by the time I’m 30, to have stepped on every continent. I’ve already crossed three off my list – North America, Africa, and obviously Europe – and I’m hoping to get to Asia and South America in the next two years but I have no clue how I’m going to do Antarctica. Anyone have any suggestions.
  3. I am currently planning a gap year (sort of) to spent time travelling around the world. I’ll take a career break from work for nine months and go to all the places I’ve always wanted to. In the end I’m not sure if anything will come of it, but it’s fun to roughly plan where I want to go if I’m ever stressed at work or just down on life in general.
  4. I manage to make it 25 years of my life without breaking a bone, then I broke the most ridiculous bone ever (one of my little toes) in the most ridiculous way possible (I stubbed it in my bed while taking off a sock).
  5. I’ve recently taken up yoga again. After a break of a year and a half – or thereabouts after I changed jobs – I am very rusty, and there are a few poses I hated back then and still hate now, but it’s a really good workout and I forgot how much I enjoyed it.
  6. I am scared of geese. When I was in primary school on a class trip to a farm/amusement park my friend and I walked too close to a flock of geese and, they obviously felt threatened, because they came running after us squawking and snapping. For a 9/10 year old it was terrifying and even now when I see a lone goose I give it a wide berth.
  7. While in Prague two years ago I became addicted to chimney cakes (Kürtőskalács if you’re a local), a spit cooked cake rolled in sugar and powdered cinnamon which is so amazingly yummy. I finally found them this weekend in Camden Market in the UK so I’m seeing a lot of trips there in the future! I wouldn’t say this is a fact more of a ‘oh my god I’m so excited I finally found these I have to tell someone.’

  6. It’s absolutely incredible that you’ve already been to three continents! You must have so many stories to tell 🙂 Where did you go in Africa? Also, I must ask how you get a career break from work? I’d be really interested in getting a job like that.

    1. I have seen so many amazing places so far, and there’s still a lot more I want to go to so my stories aren’t over yet 😀 I went to Tunisia ages ago with my family. There are still other places in Africa I want to go to; Kenya and Egypt for example, but seeing as my aim is to step on each continent before I’m thirty I can cross off Africa for now 😀
      I think there are a fair few jobs out there that offer career breaks. I’m not too sure how it works where I am, something I’d need to ask, but I’ll probably have to go through my manager and really it’s down to them whether I can have the time off or not.

      1. That’s so exciting 🙂 I’ve been to Kenya, and I must admit your experience will differ depending on which part you go to. It was definitely a life changing experience for me to see how people live. I’ve not been to Egypt, but that’s on my list too.
        I didn’t actually know about career breaks before this, so I really need to look into it. It would make life a lot easier 🙂

      2. Probably, I imagine it’s a big country as well. Obviously I’d need to do some research on where I’d want to go, at the moment it’s just the name of a country I want to travel to (like how I say I want to go to Australia one day!) Egypt would be amazing but not till all e issues they’re having over there have died down a bit.
        Career breaks are a great idea if you want to do extended travel. I think most big companies in the UK offer than so definitely check it out when you get a chance!

    I loved reading your facts! Visiting every continent would be such an amazing thing to be able to say you’ve done. Don’t forget Australia though 😉 I have a cousin who was stationed in Antarctica doing environmental things. All his photos and videos looked amazing. I think there are charter flights that go out there? I’ve never really looked into it too much because the wanderlust would be so extreme, haha. YALC seems like it’d be so much fun!! I hope you have a great time 😀

      Nah I couldn't forget Australia, at the moment I have no solid plans though but definitely one day. I do have immediate plans to visit Asia next year and maybe South America as well. Ahh I'll definitely have to look into charter flights then, not sure how else I'd be able to do Antarctica but I need to do it to make all eight continents!

    1. It was definitely an experience. The one in Rome is supposed to be the best in Europe so me and my friends were like, we have to go!
      It would definitely be fulfilling the dream for me! And yes I’ll definitely share photos and stories from my travels, I’m planning to post something for my Venice trip this weekend (when I can get around to sorting through all the photos I took)
      My toe healed, I doubt my dignity will soon XD
      Yeah, I think when it comes down to it there are always new interesting facts I can share 😀

    1. I went with a large group of friends (there was nine of us in total) and we just started discussing it one day and decided to try and get tickets. Honestly even today it is still one of my best holidays and the best convention I’ve ever been too.
      That’s all right, hopefully you’ll get a chance to do this one if you haven’t already but no worries if you have 😀

      Yeah actually going on a gap year would be a dream come true for me, there are so many places I want to visit (have planned to visit if I ever get a chance)
      Not too sure how Antarctica would work, but I’m determined to do it so I’ll have to find a way! I’ll let you know how I manage it if I do 😦

      2. We should definitely try and say hi while we’re there 🙂 I’m not sure who else is going but I reckon it’ll be amazing. I pretty much discovered this event existed and booked my ticket that week so it still feels a little surreal at the moment!

It’s so great that you’re planning on a gap year, I wish I could do that, I’d love to, especially since I’m not really looking forward to starting real life, meaning, trying to find a job and everything ahah. I hope you’ll be able to travel all around the world, it’d be fantastic! And yay for going to YALC! I don’t think I will be able to go in the end, well, I’m currently trying to plan my summer, but…we never know! 🙂

See even when you do have a job you can still plan a gap year but I know what you mean, going from school to full-time work is so hard and such an adjustment, at least it was for me when I finished uni. My work can give me a career break for up to nine months if I wanna go traveling, I may take them up on that one day! 😀 it’d be fantastic to see all the places one after the other over a few months, definitely an experience I’ll never forget!
      Well I’ll keep my fingers crossed you can make it to YALC (I am so so excited for it it is unreal) but if you can’t I can bring back stories for you from the event! 😀

        Oh yes I LOVE going on holiday, I love travelling and I want to see as much of the world as I can because there’s so many things I want to experience out there 😀

      I think geese are terrifying, they’re so aggressive and angry all the time, like what is even up with that, what do they have to be so angry about!?
      Hopefully it’s a goal I’ll be able to achieve in a few more years it can be such an amazing experience seeing so many different places all over the world!

      2. I’m not really afraid of all birds (owls are actually my favourite animal) but geese aren’t really birds in my opinion, more like balls of hate and rage covered in feathers.
        I definitely will! I’m planning to post some pictures from my Venice trip this weekend when I can sort through all the photos I took!

        God Venice was amazing, it’s such a beautiful city and I would definitely recommend going there if you ever get a chance to!

    #5 – Goodness it’s been so long since I joined a yoga class. I never became really good at it or anything but for me it was definitely a good workout when done in class and a great way to relax when done by yourself at home! How long did you use to do yoga for?

    1. I would love to come of Australia one day. It’s on my to-travel-to list but you’ll have to recommend to me some of the best places to visit/see!
      I wouldn’t say I was really good at it probably why it’s such a good workout for me because I struggle to stay in some of the poses for the length required. I used to do it every week for about a year, then because I got a job a little further away I couldn’t make it to the class for about a year and a half. Oh yeah it’s a great workout in the class, and a lot of fun as well, I’m glad I’ve been able to go back again.

      1. Come! Australia’s all for the culture/nature/food, I think – at least Melbourne is. Especially the food, there’s just so much variety! 🙂

        I wish I have the budget to join classes! The closest one to my place costs maybe like $100 AUD/month, which doesn’t really sound like much but is just another monthly expense I need to pay if I go for it. Hope you enjoy yours and get your groove back though!

      2. It is definitely on my to-travel list. I won’t say I have solid plans in place, more of a one-day-soon kinda thing going on, but it’s always been somewhere I’ve wanted to visit.
        Jesus that’s a lot of money for a month. The class I go to costs £5 GBP a week so between £20/£25 a month. Hopefully I’ll keep improving each week I go 🙂 it’s something to aim for!

      3. It is a lot of money, isn’t it? 25 GBP ends up being 50 AUD, so that’s still cheaper. To be fair though I do think Aus is kind of an expensive place to live – I’ve lived a bit in the UK before and just remember how nicely priced everything was (in comparison). 😛

      4. Ohh, I didn’t think of the exchange rate (for some reason) yeah it stills a fair bit of money but when it’s only £5 a week it doesn’t seem as much. There are places in England that are a lot more expensive, if I was going yoga in London I’d probably pay double that at least, but I go back home in Southend so I guess it works out less expensive! 🙂
