The Sunshine Blogger Award

I hadn’t actually seen this award around before I was nominated for it, but I was thrilled to be nominated and even more thrilled to discover rather than giving facts about myself there were questions for me to answer. I am running very low on facts I can share about myself.

I was nominated for this award by Brigitte at The Book and The Bone. Thanks so much for the nomination Brigitte, I was thrilled to receive this one and excited to post it on my blog.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Rules:

  • Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate some wonderful bloggers and write 11 questions for them to answer.

Brigitte’s Questions

  1. Do you have a favourite poem?

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there; I did not die.
— Mary Elizabeth Frye, Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep.

I don’t really believe in God, or the idea of heaven and hell, so for me the idea that even after you’re gone people can still see you in the simple but beautiful parts of the world is something I really like.

  1. Which book universe would not want to live in?

Westeros. Don’t get me wrong I love the A Song of Ice and Fire books but it does not sound like a nice place to live, or even to visit, and the way most characters go I’d probably end up dead before long anyway.

  1. If you could study anything, what would it be?

Magic. I’d love to go to a school like Hogwarts and study all the things Harry, Ron and Hermione did; Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination. I’d be just like Hermione I think; always with my head in a book and top marks in the classes because who wouldn’t love to learn everything they possibly could about magic.

  1. Favourite subject at school?

Drama. I always wished I carried it on as a GCSE, I loved the lessons and I think it was something that I was actually good at.

  1. Least favourite subject at school?

Maths. Up until my GCSEs it was my worst subject at school, and even after I started to improve it was still a struggle for me to understand parts of it.

  1. Would you rather live forever or be guaranteed a spot in paradise when you die?

I’d pick live forever. I’d love to be able to experience history as it happened, and I’d also be able to keep an eye on all my descendants and see them grow up which I think would be nice.

  1. Favourite non-canon pairing?

It’s actually a tie between Iko and Kinney from Winter by Marissa Meyer and Ziri and Liraz from Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor. There was definitely something between both couples, and I loved the hints we got of possibly something deeper that could develop between them. I’d love to read a book, hell I’d settle for a novella, about both couples.

  1. What was the first fandom you became really invested in?

Besides Harry potter, probably The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. My friends and I spent hours talking about the books in class when she should have been working, I went on book buying sprees when I discovered the series and I was so excited for the sixth book to be released. My first book crush was on Jesse.

  1. Do you like watching horror films?

Not really. I’m a massive wimp so I hate jump scares and any films where there is excessive amounts of blood and gore. The last horror film I saw in the cinema I watched from behind my hands and I couldn’t even stay until the end; I left halfway through because it was so horribly gory.

  1. Favourite literary trope?

I will always read any books that contain time travel of fairytale influences. I also love reading anything with magic or fantastical worlds and settings, and I love cute romance stories.

  1. What’s your favourite English accent?

I wouldn’t say I have a favourite one. One of the people I work with is from Scotland and she has a really nice accent but I also love my own just because it sounds like home.

My Questions

  1. What book would you recommend to everyone, because it’s so amazing?
  2. If you could pick one book to read again as if for the first time what would it be?
  3. Favourite comfort food?
  4. Favourite quote?
  5. Best and worst book-to-film adaptations you’ve seen?
  6. What’s your favourite book so far that you’ve read in 2016?
  7. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
  8. What is your favourite thing to do with your spare time, other than reading?
  9. If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be?
  10. Has blogging been different to, or exactly as you pictured it being?
  11. What has been the most positive thing that’s happened to you this week?

    1. I’m a wimp when it comes to anything even remotely related to horror films, even phycological ones can freak me out a little. Honestly anything that could make me jump I avoid (I hate jump scares because I am an extremely jumpy person in general).

    1. Thanks! I get really weird with films like that, I get squiky and can’t watch any of it. The last film I saw like that I had to get my Kindle and iPad out to distract me it was THAT bad!
And that’s all right 😀 I hope you have fun with this award, and the questions too!

      1. I’ve done that more times than I can count. It’s really embarrassing through because sometimes when someone jump scares me or I do it to myself I scream a little bit as well, just because of the shock, and if I’m at work it’s just so horribly embarrassing!

  1. I feel you with the maths, it was was my worst subject too and I was only happy to get rid of most of it at uni (I was only a bit horrified when I walked into a class on calculus the other day. Of *all* the maths…). I’m so glad you enjoyed doing this! 😀

    1. You know the really ironic thing is I use a lot of maths in my current job, and considering it was my worst subject at school, I actually enjoy it a little now that I’m using it everyday during work. God I think my worst subject was when we did the graphs and you had to find Sin and Tan and the other words I had no clue what they meant.
It was great fun! Thanks so much for tagging me in this 😀

  2. I love this! And I really like your favorite tropes, I would always look out for some of your advice in the time travel and fairytale area 😛 I hate horror movies as well, I have no interest in watching these because I am a huge wimp and I do not want to see those kinds of movie, hahaha

    1. Thanks Marie! And yes if you ever need advice on time travel or fairytale retelling books you can definitely come to me, I’ll have tons for you 😀
Yeah I’m never gonna like horror films, they’re just really not my thing. I’m a huge wimp when it comes to the blood and gore in them. I just ask myself why would anyone put themselves through watching something like this!

    1. That’s all right.
Yes I would totally be like Hermione at Hogwarts, reading everything I could get my hands on, completing all the homework as soon as its assigned! God it would be amazing to study at Hogwarts, even for a year or so.
Meg Cabot was is amazing, and yes The Mediator books are amazing.

      1. Oh my god yes! I think I would be the same, I’d want to learn everything Hogwarts has to offer so I’d be begging for a time turner so I could do everything!
Honestly a time turned would be really helpful in real life too!

  3. I love the Mediator series! It’s one of the few series I reread fairly regularly (every two or three years). It’s about time for the next reread, actually.

“The last horror film I saw in the cinema I watched from behind my hands and I couldn’t even stay until the end; I left halfway through because it was so horribly gory.”

That’s definitely something I’d do, if I ever watched horror movies. No thanks. 🙂

    1. Gods it’s brilliant! I’m the same I re-read it all the time as well and it’s always just as good as the first time.
It was the worst horror films I’ve seen in ages! There was so much blood and gore and I just could not sit through it. I had to get out my Kindle and iPad to distract me. I see trailers and all I can think is why do people put themselves through this!
