The Miranda Sings Award

I’m not a very positive person, though I am trying to change that. My friend’s and I have a Positive Minds thread of Facebook where each day we post something positive that happened to us, be it big or small.

I was nominated for this award by Lila at The Bookkeeper’s Secrets. Thanks so much for the nomination Lila, I struggled to come up with some facts for this post but overall it was interesting seeing what I saw about myself that was positive.

The Mirana Sings Award

The Rules:

  • Announce your win with a post, and link the blogger who nominated you.
  • Include the featured image on your blog post.
  • Nominate ten bloggers (or as many as you can think of) and link your awardees in the post.
  • List seven things you love about yourself. (This can be about your appearance, your personality, your achievements, etc.)
  • Don’t use negative connotation (i.e. Don’t say things like – “I’m prettier than an average person.” or “People have told me I’m smart.” You are pretty. You are smart.)

I have unique taste in jewellery…
…I buy a lot of my jewellery, mainly necklaces, from Etsy so a lot of people haven’t seen the pieces I wear around a lot. I get a lot of compliments and questions about my jewellery when I wear certain pieces.

I like my hair…
…Every time I go to the hairdressers I always get complimented on the colour of my hair. I’ve started to grow it out again recently because I miss having longer hair.

I have a good head for numbers…
…I find it very easy to remember dates, such a birthdays, and I’m getting better at maths which is coming in handy for my job.

I’m a good teacher…
…A lot of people have commented recently on that fact and it’s always nice to hear. Someone even mentioned that I should consider going for a Deputy Senior Allocator position at my job because my teaching skills, and my patience when going through new things, was so good.

I’m a quick learner…
…It doesn’t take me long to pick up new skills, and I love learning new things as well. I’m currently learning to speak Italian.

I’m generous…
…I love giving people presents. I always bring back gifts for my friends, family and co-workers whenever I go away on holidays; and I love shopping for the perfect presents for people come Christmas or birthdays.

I’m strong…
…A couple of years ago I suffered from stress-related anxiety and was signed off from my previous job. Since then I’ve attended counselling and started a new job. The fact that I managed to turn my life around from that low point is something I’m incredibly proud of.

  1. Ahh thank you for the nomination! I’m really behind on all posts, especially tags and awards, but I’ll get to this one very soon. 😀 Also jewelry from Etsy is amazing! I love how you can discover stuff you wouldn’t see in regular stores. 🙂

    1. That’s all right 🙂 and yeah it’s the same for me! I have a backlog of tags I need to steadily work my way through! There’s no time limit or anything so feel free to take however long you need with this one 🙂
Oh I completely agree. Most of it is so unique, you’re never going to walk into work and see three other people with the same necklace because you all it from the same high street store.

      1. Yeah it’s really good there’s no time limit on any of them, because if there was, I’d be lost within a week.
That way we at least won’t run out on blog posts, right? 😀
Exactly! RedBubble and Society6 are great as well, but for clothes, art prints and home decor instead of jewelry.

      2. Yeah I’m not good with time limits, I think the oldest tag I have in my queue is a month and a half now, maybe two months old. One day ill get around to them all 🙂
I’ll definitely have to check out both of those, I’m probably never gonna buy clothes online but the art prints and home decor aspects sound interesting 🙂

  2. This is a lovely idea! Very nice to hear people say good things about themselves. 🙂
And thank you so much for tagging me! I’m just not sure if I should do this, as I don’t really like Miranda Sings. Since this is such a positive tag, I feel like if I do it even tho I’m not a fan of hers I’m adding a negative aspect to it … although I kind of wanna do it because I love the idea! I’m so torn!

    1. It’s a great tag, and so different from a lot of the others as well!
That’s all right, and if you don’t want to do this tag don’t feel like you have to 🙂 it’s completely up to you. It’s nice to do the positive aspect though, maybe you could just rename it on your blog or something.

    1. It is a good one, I really had to think about my answers for this. Oh I spend ages on Etsy, and spend loads of money too. A lot of the stuff is so beautiful and I kind of want it all! I’ve just seen a necklace that I want so I’m gonna have to buy that soon 😀

      1. There are just so many gorgeous things on Etsy! And not only jewellry: I would spend billions for all the bookish things they have, and mugs, and just, everything seem so pretty! You should write down a post about Etsy and all the gorgeous things you find, I’d love to see 😛

      2. I think if it weren’t for spending so much money on actual books I’d spend a lot more on Etsy! As it is I’ve only looked at the jewellery, haven’t really looked at the bookish side of things but I definitely need to check that out soon. I feel like my bank account is going to be even more red soon!
Yeah I’ll definitely look into doing an Etsy post soon! I’ll have to see what else I can find on there now 😀

  3. “I struggled to come up with some facts for this post but overall it was interesting seeing what I saw about myself that was positive.”

It’s tough to come up with things to say about oneself–especially things that are unreservedly positive.

What kind of necklaces do you buy? Do you have a type that you gravitate toward? I have this weird thing for pearls, even though I don’t wear (or even buy) jewelry. Maybe I was a crotchety Southern grandma in my past life.

Do you think you’ll seriously consider changing positions at work?

Counselling can be incredibly helpful. Congrats on making it out of a low point in your life! I hope you celebrated your success. =)

Thanks for the nomination! Now, let’s see if I can come up with answers as good as yours.

    1. I’m a total pessimist as well so that didn’t help things, and honestly a few are based on compliments I received from work colleagues or friends so that may have been cheating a little 🙂
I mostly buy things from Etsy, I see stuff online, fall in love and then click on the link to buy it. One I’m wearing at the moment is from Beauty Spot (I think that’s the name) it has all the planets on it and of all the necklaces I own (which is a lot) it’s got the most compliments. I know what you mean about the pearls though, I have a thing for opals even though I have no jewellery with them in/on.
Ehh, I’m not sure what the future holds though I am thinking more about my future career at the moment, and thanks so much. I think my happiest day by far was finding out I’d gotten the new job (my current job) it just felt like the start of a better path.
That’s all right! I’m looking forwards to seeing your answers/facts for this one 😀

      1. Hey, I’d say that’s definitely NOT cheating.

Planet- and space-themed jewelry is awesome. Two thumbs up. Oh, man, opals are mesmerizing. (Which maybe isn’t a desirable quality in jewelry–at least not if it’s worn to work. Don’t want to get sucked into just staring at the thing when there are emails to write and meetings to attend.)

May your future hold happiness and a fulfilling career! =)

      2. It’s my favourite necklace. I love space themed jewellery; stars, planets, everything and anything as long as it’s on a necklace.
There are so many different kinds of opals as well, and they’re all so beautiful I kind of want one but I think I’d be too scared to wear it out in public for fear of damaging it. Oh definitely mesmerising, I get distracted at work often enough 😀
        Thanks so much! ❤️

  4. Aw! I loved this post. I know how hard it can be to be positive and I love the idea of that Facebook thread. That’s so awesome about your teaching. Do you think you’ll apply for the position? Also, seeing the last fact is really inspirational to me because I’m in that position now and it definitely makes me feel less alone and helps me believe that I can turn things around too. ❤

    1. Thanks Lauren 🙂
Yeah I find it hard to be positive all the time, sometimes I have really terrible days but there’s always something that kind of improves it a little, even if it’s just someone complimenting me on my outfit 🙂
I’m not sure about the teaching angle, before it was mentioned to me I never really considered it butts thinking more about my future career wise now so you never know.
Ahh I’m sorry you’re in that place now, it really sucks but you can definitely turn things around 🙂 I won’t say it’s easy but when you look back it’ll definitely be worth it ❤️

  5. I wish I was good at remembering numbers!! I always forget birthdays, which is horrible especially when it comes to close friends 😦

Beth, that’s amazing that you were able to turn your life around when things were tough. That really is incredibly strong! Great job!! ❤

Thank you so much for the nomination 🙂

    1. Well I’m good with numbers but not so much names, I can remember people’s birthday but I’m likely to call them by the wrong name which happens more times than I can count at work especially!
And thanks, yeah it was hard going but it was either stay miserable or do something about it! I chose the latter option 😀

      1. I got that from your intro but yiu shouldn’t though, you’re one of the sweetest people I know here !
That’s happening to me too, I’m alwqys wracking my brain for different facts haha
