This or That Tag

This or That seemed like a really fun tag. I hadn’t seen it around before, but honestly there are quite a few I’ve been tagged in recently that I had no clue existed. I have some very particular preferences when it comes to the books I read, a few I didn’t even realise I had until completing this tag.

Would you rather only read trilogies or only read standalones?

Trilogies

I complain when a books ends on a cliff-hanger, and it can be horrific waiting for the next book in the series after such an ending. However I always feel like the plots, the characters, and everything really has so much more room to develop in trilogies, and sometimes the wait, the anticipation, for the next or last book is the best part.

Would you rather only read male or female authors?

I’ve never really thought about this before, I tend to choose books based on the blurb or the cover not so much the authors name, but I’m going to have to say female. I have read some amazing books by male authors, the Red Rising trilogy comes to mind, but I have so many more female authors on my bookshelves than May.

Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble Waterstones or Amazon?

Definitely Amazon.

Yes there is sometimes a long wait for books to be dispatched and delivered from Amazon, which can be annoying if it’s a new release I cannot wait to get my hands on. However the books are a lot cheaper on Amazon, and there’s much more of a selection as well. Half the time when I go into Waterstones the books I want aren’t available.

Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

If I have to choose, TV shows.

I guess I think that there more time to properly represent the books in TV shows. Unless they make movies hours and hours long there are always parts missing; characters, small plot points, etc. TV shows have the opportunity to actually develop everything in the book.

Would you rather read only five pages per day or five books per week?

Five books a week, obviously.

I read five books a week now anyways. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I were only reading five pages a week!

Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?

Reviewer.

I love writing so I don’t think it’s matter to me if it was books or reviews. However I think it’d be really hard to see negative reviews of a book I’d written, plus I love talking to fellow bloggers about the books I’ve read.

Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?

Bookseller.

I imagine you’d get to see all the latest books as they came in, maybe even before the release date, and I’d love getting first look at them. Plus I’d probably get some kind of staff discount which would be amazing as I spend so much money on books as it is.

Would you rather read only your favourite genre, or every other genre but your favourite?

My favourite genre.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve read some brilliant books from other genres but I couldn’t go without some of my favourite fantasy authors for long.

Would you rather only read eBooks or physical books?

eBooks.

I do love physical books, I have five bookshelves full of them, but I prefer eBooks simply because I can chuck my Kindle in the bottom of my bag and I won’t have to worry about it getting damaged like I would a physical book. Plus there are so many books on my Kindle, and I doubt I’d be able to carry more than ten in my bag without doing serious damage to my shoulder.
