Marilyn Monroe:
The most glamorous book you have ever read.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

The very first time I read this book I fell in love with Laini Taylor’s amazing writing and the world she created within its pages. She made Prague seem like a magical place and it made me want to visit the city to experience it for myself.

I have never before, and never since, read another book that even comes close to Daughter of Smoke and Bone in terms of the writing and the world building.

Gansey
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

Gansey is the one who leads the other on their journey to find Glendower, and they are all willing to follow him no matter what. Ronan, Adam, Noah, and Blue all have different things that drive them on their quest for Glendower but it is Gansey they follow, Gansey they turn to for answers or help, and Gansey who leads them. He is a brilliant character, and while he does sometimes put his foot in his mouth when it comes to Blue and Adam, he is a great leader who everyone seems to admire.

The Mongers’
Waging War by April White

It seems appropriate that for this one I picked a book actually set in World War II.

Not really one person but the Mongers’, the descendants of War, police the rest of the immortal descendants; Time, Fate, Nature, and Death. However they desire more power and more control; they start taking out any half-bloods they can find, using the Monger ring to control anyone who threatens their power or stands in their way.

In Waging War they make a move against the rest of the immortal descendants, and the half bloods they’ve kidnapped come into play but I have to wait for the last book in the series to find out what happens next.

Paige Mahoney
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

Paige is a character who has gone through so much, and grown so much, in just two books; and with another five left in this series I feel like she still has a long way to go.

After being caught by the Scion and shipped off to Sheol I she keeps her head down, trying to survive, but there is still a spark of rebellion in her blood and she is determined to escape. She trains in how to fully understand and use her clairvoyant gifts and becomes a much stronger character through that.

While in the first book she has faith in her syndicate and Jaxon she starts seeing another side to him, and in the second book she is unable to stand blindly by his side knowing what she knows. She refuses to do nothing and let Scion take more clairvoyants the way they took her. She is an incredibly amazing character and I cannot wait to see what happens next for her.

Your most favourite member of a royal family from within a book.

Shahrzad
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

Shahrzad is an amazing ruler. She is stubborn enough to go toe to toe with her husband, refusing to bow to his every whim, but she also stands by and supports him when needed against people who fight to put him down. She is strong enough to survive each dawn when Khalid has killed every other wife he’s had, and more than capable of looking after herself. She is also kind, understanding, compassionate, loyal, and willing to stand up for herself and those she loves against anyone, be it her husband or her childhood sweetheart.

The kookiest, craziest, most bonkers books character ever!

Princess Winter
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Winter went mad after she stopped using her Lunar gift as soon as she was able to fully control it. However in spite of the madness and the visions that plague her she is still a genuinely good and kind person, a rarity in Queen Levana’s court. She is loved by the citizens of Luna and fiercely loyal to the people she loves; Jacin and her cousin Selene, the true Queen of Luna. She is an incredibly strong character; using her gift would be a lot easier, it would stop the visions and the madness, but she doesn’t. She refuses to ever take someone else’s control and free will away from them.

Roque
Golden Son by Pierce Brown

*Will contain spoilers for Golden Son*

The scene at the end of Golden Son shocked me. I honestly did not see it coming, not a million miles away, but looking back it made sense. Throughout the whole of the book Mustang and Sevro were constantly telling Darrow to repair his relationship with Roque before it was too late. You could see the two of them growing further and further apart and in the end it was too late. All the things Darrow kept from Roque, his friend and his brother, drove them apart and in the end Roque just couldn’t stand by his side or trust him anymore.
